"Chibi Robo! ], but there are no goods or sequels, so I made a life-size diorama with a 3D printer.

Everyone, Chibi-Robo! ’ Do you remember?

"Chibi Robo! is an action-adventure game series released by Nintendo on June 23, 2005. Players operate a 10 cm tall helper robot, “Chibi-Robo,” and proceed with the story while cleaning the house, looking for things, and interacting with toys that start talking for some reason.

The setting itself of adventuring as a small robot in a semi-open world where the house is reproduced was fun, but the story is worth mentioning. Although the story is pleasant with cute character designs, it is very serious at the root, with domestic problems and toys and robots that are consumed as "things".

I was in elementary school at the time, and I remember thinking about it as a child. For elementary school students, the experience of thinking deeply about the story of a game was shocking. It was such a fascinating piece.

Such a masterpiece "Chibi Robo! However, although the details are unknown, Skip, which was in charge of development, seems to have virtually closed down, and there have been no goods or sequels since Lasso Action! Guruguru! Chibi-Robo! released on October 8, 2015. As a result, Nintendo's IP is becoming quite overshadowed.

It can be a remake, it can be a remaster, it doesn't have to be a game. Anything is fine, so "Mr. Nintendo! Bring out Chibi-Robo!" I will.

First, let's make Chibi-Robo in digital space!

There are various ways to create models and figures. You can knead clay or cut it out of a plastic board, but the mainstream method these days is to create a model in a digital space and output it with a 3D printer.

Various software is used for modeling in the digital space, but this time I will use a 3D CAD software called Fusion 360, which I am familiar with. By the way, it's free! (Limited to personal use)

When I say "digital", I get the impression that it's easy and hassle-free, but it's actually more straightforward than I thought. Based on the setting image, we will gradually bring the size and impression closer to completion. When modeling with Fusion360, the contour lines are sharp and tend to look thicker than they actually are, so the trick is to make them feel thicker.

In addition, when modeling the model, it is necessary to devise ways to divide the parts so that the pose can be changed easily. However, since Chibi-Robo has a simple shape, it can be modeled relatively easily. Recommended for beginners!

Behold the power of the printer! Summoned to the real world!

Now that we have created a model in the digital space, let's actually create it in the real world.

I love Let's paint Chibi-Robo!

Let's output Chibi-Robo with a 3D printer and paint it after shaping it.

However, even if the output product looks beautiful at first glance, the surface is layered and uneven due to the nature of 3D printers, which "stack layers to create a three-dimensional image". Therefore, I blow the surfacer with an airbrush, which is a tool for painting, and flatten it with a file.

You can finally paint. This time, in order to paint it in a “whitish silver color”, I start with a white base and start with silver (normally, silver is painted with a black base). At the same time, let's paint the hip rag.

The diorama can be used in various ways depending on your imagination! Let's Build a House

We're going to make a pedestal to put Chibi-Robo on, but since it's a big deal, we'll make it a pedestal that looks like a house.

I use a wooden box that was sold at 100 yen shop.

Tear this down!

Next, the outlet base sold at the home center. A little expensive, about 800 yen. This is also disassembled and "Chibi Robo! ] will be similar to the outlet that appeared in.

Prepare materials for flooring and wallpaper that are indispensable for the interior of your home. Originally, I diverted what I used for repair.

Hi! Pet footprints on Chibi-Robo's reliable lifeline outlet. The scene of Chibi-Robo cleaning bravely has been completed. Actual size of course. You can do so much with familiar things!

By the way, Chibi-Robo is designed to stand on its own, so you can place it anywhere. How about one Chibi-Robo for your family?

So that was the Chibi-Robo production diary. At the time of the game's release, a cleaning robot was just a dream come true, but the technology advanced so quickly that robots could do everything from sweeping to mopping.

According to Jules Verne, a famous French SF novelist known for "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea", "What humans can imagine, humans can always realize." In other words, "Chibi-Robo! If you imagine that there will be a sequel to "Chibi-Robo!" will appear... (Nintendo, please!)
