Meanwhile, Roborock, which also handles Xiaomi's OEM robot vacuum cleaner, released the robot vacuum cleaner "Roborock S7 / S7 +" equipped with new functions that are rarely seen elsewhere on September 3rd.

I borrowed the S7 + for a while for review, so I would like to introduce what is new.

Roborock's first automatic garbage collection dock is a cyclone type

The Roborock S7 and S7 + have the same vacuum cleaner body, the difference is the presence or absence of an automatic garbage collection dock, which is included with the S7 +. This is the first automatic garbage collection dock for Roborock products.

In fact, this automatic garbage collection dock is a very unique product. Robot vacuum cleaners with garbage collection docks are not uncommon, but most are paper carton. While it is easy to collect garbage, you have to purchase a special paper carton on a regular basis, which incurs running costs.

I don't know if I paid attention to it, but the automatic garbage collection dock of roborock S7 + adopts a cyclone type. Since no paper pack is used, running costs can be reduced.

When throwing away trash, just separate it from the dock and open the bottom cover. Each part can be washed with water. You can also use a paper carton by replacing the contents of the cyclone with a special attachment. The cyclone type is also safe for people who don't feel like dust is flying when throwing away trash.

By the way, the exhaust part is equipped with an H13 HEPA filter. This filter can also be washed with water.

Enhanced water spray function.Automatically lifts up on the carpet

There is only the latest model, and the main body side of the robot vacuum cleaner is also evolving. Before that, check the specifications of the main unit for the time being. It looks like a common robot vacuum cleaner.

When you open the cover, there is a dust box. However, many models come with a cleaning brush in this area, but the S7 does not.

Of course, the dust box can be washed with water. There is an impression that the dust box is a little smaller than the main body size, but the capacity of the previous model S6 Max was 460 ml, but it has increased to 470 ml.

A major feature of such S7 is the water wiping function. The mechanism itself of putting water in the tank and mopping is the same, but the mop vibrates at a high speed of up to 3000 times / minute, and the mop load pressed against the floor is strengthened to 600 g, which is twice that of the conventional model. rice field.

Of course, the tank and mop are removable. The mop can be used repeatedly by washing it with water.

And, as a further feature of the water wiping function, it is compatible with carpets. In the case of conventional robot vacuum cleaners, it is natural to remove the mop or tank when using it on a carpet. However, when the S7 detects the carpet, the mop part lifts up by about 5 mm. Carpets with fluff of 4 mm or less can be cleaned without removing them.

If you're still worried, you can change the settings from the smartphone app to prevent them from passing over the carpet. On the other hand, if you want to wipe with water, such as a joint mat, you can avoid it or set it so that it does not lift up.

In addition, the water wiping function has been strengthened, and a "water wiping powerful mode" that only wipes with water without suction cleaning has been installed. Take a finer route than usual and wipe it thoroughly with water. Daily cleaning should be done with normal suction and water wiping, and it seems good to do only water wiping once a week.

Of course, automatic map generation is also supported. You can also specify an area and clean only that area. If you have a mix of long and short carpets, you can use this area designation to set a no-wipe area.

If you say, "I don't usually specify the area, but I want you to clean only here," you can use the remote control to move it to the spot and clean only the area.

It is attractive that you do not have to manage the inventory of paper packs

I've actually used it for a few days, but to be honest, I don't feel any difference from other robot vacuum cleaners in terms of automatic map generation, suction power, and obstacle avoidance. It is convenient to have the high-speed vibration of water wiping as a standard function, but other companies also support it with an optional unit. Unfortunately, I didn't feel the convenience of automatic lift-up because I don't have a carpet in my house, but I think this function will come in handy in a house with a carpet.

Personally, I found the cyclone-type automatic garbage collection dock to be more convenient than the function of the main unit. You don't have to be aware of the stock of paper cartons, which is very easy both mentally and as a wallet. It is also good to know at a glance how much garbage is accumulated.

The price is 169,400 yen, which is a little high for a robot vacuum cleaner, but considering that it will continue to be used for several years, I think it is well worth it.
