[Zoom in]
On February 16, Patent Result Co., Ltd. used the patent analysis tool "Biz Cruncher" to examine the "thermistor-related technology" published by the Japanese Patent Office from January 1993 to February 4, 2022. We have compiled the results of a survey on market entrants and started selling reports.
A thermistor is an electronic component whose electrical resistance changes with changes in temperature. There are two types of thermistors: NTC thermistors, whose resistance value gradually decreases as the temperature rises, and PTC thermistors, whose resistance value increases sharply when a certain temperature is exceeded. There are types. The former is mainly used for temperature sensors, and the latter is used for heaters and overcurrent protection elements in addition to temperature sensors. In this survey, the quality and quality of patents were evaluated based on the "patent score," which scores the attention level of individual patents, for "thermistor-related technology" patents such as thermistors and thermistor-using devices published by the Japanese Patent Office. An overall evaluation was made based on quantity.
As a result of counting, the "Comprehensive Power Ranking" was 1st Murata Manufacturing, 2nd Mitsubishi Materials, and 3rd TDK.

1st Place Murata Manufacturing's most notable patents include "a surface-mounted NTC thermistor that can prevent erosion by plating solutions without forming a glass layer and has excellent reliability" and "Thermistors that can be mounted by reflow and can be mounted in extremely small spaces".
2nd place Mitsubishi Materials' high-profile patent states, "A thermistor material layer that is hard to crack, can be formed directly on a film without firing, and has high heat resistance and high reliability. and a thin film thermistor formed directly on the insulating film, which reduces the overall thickness and provides excellent responsiveness due to its small volume.
3rd Place TDK's most notable patents include "a temperature sensor element in which the resistance of the NTC layers arranged on the upper and lower surfaces of the ceramic carrier is determined by the thickness and/or geometry of the NTC layers" and " A PTC thermistor that can sufficiently prevent plating from adhering to the surface of the ceramic porous body even when terminal electrodes are formed on the external electrodes by plating, thereby preventing deterioration in product reliability. and so on.
Fourth place Shibaura Electronics said, "Even if there is a compositional deviation in the additive element, the desired B constant (constant representing the magnitude of resistance value change obtained from two arbitrary temperatures in the resistance-temperature characteristic) is stabilized. NGK SPARK PLUG CO., LTD. ranked 5th. NGK SPARK PLUG CO., LTD. said, "Even when used in an installation environment where the sensor installation position is far from the temperature detection position, it is possible to prevent disconnection and breakage due to resonance. A temperature sensor” is one of the patents that attracts a lot of attention.
Denso, SEMITEC, LITTELFUSE, etc. ranked below 6th place.
